Head of Fundraising (Remote)

We now have an exciting opportunity for a volunteer Executive Assistant to join ADC. 

Main purpose of job:

Lead all the income-generating activities from external sources of funding, such as grants and donations.

Position is responsible for:

Grants Fundraising, Major Donor Fundraising, Corporate Fundraising, Community Fundraising, Individual Giving Fundraising

Main duties & Objectives:

  • Lead the development and implementation of strategies for grants fundraising, major donor fundraising, corporate fundraising, community fundraising, and individual giving fundraising 
  • Build relationships with high profile and high net worth individuals as potential donors 
  • Build relationships with charitable trusts, foundations, corporates and other institutional funders 
  • Lead a team of fundraisers by providing the necessary vision, direction, and fundraising skills that will enable the organisation to achieve its fundraising goals 
  • Develop high-impact and innovative donor acquisition campaigns and recruitment drives  
  • Explore all fundraising channels and streams for new donor acquisition 
  • Establish and implement tracking procedures for each fundraising program/channel and ensure that fundraising goals are met 
  • Increase fundraising capacity for future years by developing robust processes around budgeting, forecasting and planning, working closely with the finance team and social impact team 
  • Ensure that funding applications and reports are based on a sound understanding of the work that we do and the impact that we deliver 
  • Contribute to the development of thought leadership initiatives that position ADC as an influential driver and leader of systemic social change in Africa

Knowledge, skills, education, and experience:

Essential 

  • 10+ years of strategic fundraising experience at a senior level 
  • A track record of successful fundraising campaigns and grants applications 
  • Demonstrable success in growing income through a diverse range of fundraising activities 
  • Experience in developing innovative and targeted fundraising campaigns and high-level events 
  • Experience in producing high-quality and compelling cases for donor/funder support 
  • Able to articulate strategies for soliciting and cultivating gifts, sponsorships, and grants 
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to develop long-term relationships with institutional sponsors and individual major donors/high net worth individuals 
  • Ability to actively take the initiative and help set things up in a start-up environment 
  • Available to volunteer at least 7-10 hours a week

Desirable 

  • Experience working in an early stage star-tup and going through a scaling phase 
  • Passion for the start-up life and comfortable in a role with a bit of ambiguity 
  • Experience leading, managing and coaching successful teams in different geographical locations
